PACER Rebates updated for 2024 Canberra Tours

Schools traveling to Canberra may be eligible for a subsidy towards travel costs

An Australian Federal Government initiative designed to provide financial assistance to support on-site civics and citizenship learning for students traveling to Canberra. The Parliament And Civics Education Rebate (PACER) is offered to all schools who met the eligibility and requirements of the program, and is dependant on the distance from the school to Canberra GPO.

EducaTours of Australia help organise all of the necessary paperwork before, during and after the tour to ensure your school and it's students receive available PACER rebates. This includes customising a trip itinerary to include all mandatory institutions (Parliament House, Australian War Memorial and Old Parliament House; either Museum of Australian Democracy or National Electoral Education Centre) and alternative institutions should mandatory activities be unavailable (Government House, High Court of Australia, National Archives of Australia, National Portrait Gallery*, National Museum of Australia*, National Capital Authority*, National Gallery of Australia* & National Film and Sound Archive's*).

*specific civics & citizenship education programs only

Is the PACER rebate worth the hassle? Absolutely! The mandatory and alternative programs required to meet the eligibility criteria align specifically with the current civics and citizenships units from the national curriculum being taught in class. Students traveling on a National Capital Explorer Tour will have a hands-on and interactive learning experience which ties into lessons completed in preparation for the visit to Canberra. PACER rebate is available on a per student basis and with the rising costs of travel expenses every contribution can help to relieve the burden on schools and families looking to support their children.
